Mrs. Godfroy's 1st grade class crafted these beautiful Christmas trees as part of their kindness project! These decorative trees will be hung up at an assisted living facility here in Watertown.

We are excited to announce that we will once again be having a Holiday Store! Students from grades Kindergarten through 5th grade will have the opportunity to shop for their parents, siblings, and/or grandparents. This will give the children the opportunity to pick out their own inexpensive, yet quality gifts, during school hours. Gift wrapping is also available for 50 cents per gift. The store will be open on Friday, December 17th from 8:15AM to 3:00PM in the gymnasium. This is such a wonderful event that many students look forward to! We are asking for volunteers to help with this event. We need gift wrappers to help make this process go smoothly. If you would like to help, even if it is just for a few hours, please contact the office as a Volunteer Background Check Application will need to be completed and sent in ASAP! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Our Kindergarten Team and students had fun celebrating the 50th day of school by dressing up in 50s era clothing and enjoying root beer floats!

Congratulations to these Schurz teachers, who were recognized for a job well done! They earned a special employee parking spot for a week as well as a "jeans for a day" pass! Help us congratulate these three outstanding #WatertownWay teachers! 👏

On Veterans Day, Mrs. Beine’s music students at Lincoln and Schurz were able to zoom with a United States Veteran to share their thanks for his service. Gunnery Sergeant Lawrence Hollister is a retired Marine Veteran who served for 20 years. Part of his time with the Marines was spent serving in the Marine Band. In addition to sharing their thanks, students were also able to ask Gunnery Sergeant Hollister what it is like to be a musician in the Marine Band. Gunnery Sergeant Hollister encouraged our young musicians to work hard and persevere through the challenges of learning to play an instrument. #WatertownWay

We have the cutest #WatertownWay pumpkins in the patch! 😍 Mrs. Rousseau's 4K class had a lot of fun picking pumpkins at the Schurz Pumpkin Patch.

Last Thursday, one of the 3rd grade music classes at Schurz Elementary School was fortunate to have a virtual Q&A time with Staff Sergeant William Samson! Tuba player Staff Sergeant Samson is a member of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band. Prior to the meeting, students learned about “The President’s Own” and watched various concert excerpts. The students were then able to ask Staff Sergeant Samson questions about what it is like to be a musician whose job is to play for White House events. Staff Sergeant Samson even made a deal with the students. If they send him a recording of “Hot Cross Buns” once they learn to play it on their recorders, he will send a recording of him playing “Hot Cross Buns” on his tuba in return. Staff Sergeant Samson encouraged our young musicians to work hard and persevere through the challenges of learning to play an instrument. A special "Thank You!" to Staff Sergeant Samson for providing our students this amazing experience! 💙💛 #WatertownWay
