This past week, eCampus Educators Alexis Hail and Jenna Retzlaff met a Ukrainian mom to discuss her daughters' enrollment into WUSD's eCampus virtual school. Olga Lytvynova shared her story from her family's current home in Poland and is eager to get her 2nd and 5th grader back to school! Our #WatertownWay eCampus Academy staff has partnered with US University Pathways in recent months to enroll international students into eCampus to earn a WUSD diploma and a pathway to a Wisconsin college. Connecting with Olga and her family is an outgrowth of this effort and one that WUSD is pleased and honored to be able to support!

It's National Volunteer Recognition Week and the WUSD wants to give a 📣 SHOUT OUT to our incredible #WatertownWay volunteers who selflessly support our students and staff! We appreciate you!

As we entered the fourth quarter, Mrs. Weinheimer’s #WatertownWay 2/3 class took time to reflect on what they’ve accomplished and reminded themselves about their WHY behind the work they do every day. Check out 👀 the video they made about Following Your Dreams!

Recently one of our #WatertownWay families at Lincoln STEM Elementary generously donated three Aquaponics systems. The systems included the aquariums, seeds for planting and fish! Classrooms have enjoyed naming their fish and learning to care for them, exploring how to grow microgreens using aquaponics and a 2/3 class at Lincoln STEM harvested and made three different recipes using the microgreens this week! They enjoyed a radish microgreen salad, pineapple and wheatgrass smoothies and an avocado and pea shoot bagel sandwich. A BIG thank you for the gracious donation of these systems that are bringing real-life learning into our classrooms!

Lincoln STEM wants to show their true appreciation to educator and author Mary Tellefson and their amazing PTO by giving them another shout out! Lincoln STEM 4/5 students participated in a variety of simulations using technology to learn and build empathy for people with blindness. They learned how to properly guide a blind person, use a braille machine, decode the braille alphabet, and how to use their other four senses to learn about the world. A huge thank you to the Lincoln STEM PTO for funding a big autographed book give away! 📖

Grade 2/3 students at Lincoln STEM Elementary got in on the March Madness fun with their annual Math Fact Shoot-Out! The top students in each classroom went head-to-head against each other in the championship while their classmates cheered them on! The winners in each grade level won a basketball signed by their classmates! How fun! #WatertownWay

We were so fortunate to have author Mary Tellefson visit Lincoln STEM last week! She is a teacher and author who works with blind/visually-impaired children. She came to do a presentation and simulation workshop. Students wore blindfolds to see what it what it would be like to have a vision impairment, and also took turns being guides. Thank you, Ms. Tellefson!
