The annual Art Walk and Chalk the Walk took place along Main Street in downtown Watertown yesterday. The rain ended just in time for organizations to set up for this special event. The Bentzin Family Town Square, the Watertown Public Library, downtown businesses, and downtown sidewalks were packed with people viewing artwork, and enjoying games and activities. Thank you to the Watertown Arts Council and the WUSD Art Department for doing such a great job organizing this annual community event. 🎨🖌

On Friday, May 23, 12 Lincoln STEM Elementary School students participated in a pizza party celebration after toughing out a major challenge and mastering the 42-step algorithm to solve the Rubik’s cube, start to finish. These students chose to learn how to solve the Rubik’s cube during their recess twice a week for a semester. Many students went on to speed cubing and competed for the fastest time!
Holden Beauchamp achieved solving the Rubik’s cube in 58 seconds and Giuseppe Green carried the fastest time at 57 seconds. Jessica Wiedenfeld and Gwendolyn Uselman are the Rubik’s Cube Club advisors at Lincoln. Wiedenfeld said, “We are incredibly proud of the grit, initiative, perseverance, and passion these students put into a skill that less than 5.8% of the world’s population can do!”
Pictured are the Rubik’s Cube Club members and advisors (front row, left to right): Brayden Jobgen, Sierra Phelps, Colton Draves, Brycen Bauknecht, Corgan Claire, Ivy Muza, (back row) Mrs. Wiedenfeld, Giuseppe Green, Julius Deaton, Holden Beauchamp, Makayla Flanagan, Genevieve Hoffman, Delilah Olson, and Mrs. Uselman.
