Ms. Chapmanās kindergarten authors and illustrators at Douglas were super proud to share their wordless picture booksā¦just like the authors and illustrators they learned about during their read alouds last week!
These creative writers had LOTS to share about their characters and stories! Engaging learning experiences are the #WatertownWay! š¤©

Miss Getlinās 2/3 class read the book - A PiƱata Fiesta. Students were so excited to read about how to make a piƱata, that it inspired them want to make one of their own. They followed the steps they read about in the book and created a class piƱata. How fun!

#WatertownWay 4K students at Gingerbread Preschool had fun dressing up in costumes, too!

As an extension of the 2/3 Multi-age Project Lead the Way Module at Lincoln STEM, members of the Dodge and Jefferson County Beekeepers Association came in to share their knowledge of honeybees. š
Our #WatertownWay students participated in fun hands-on activities, which included making antennae, using a proboscis to collect nectar and pollen from flowers, and making wax candles.
It was truly the bee's knees!! š¤©

We have the cutest #WatertownWay pumpkins in the patch! š
Mrs. Rousseau's 4K class had a lot of fun picking pumpkins at the Schurz Pumpkin Patch.

Last Thursday, one of the 3rd grade music classes at Schurz Elementary School was fortunate to have a virtual Q&A time with Staff Sergeant William Samson! Tuba player Staff Sergeant Samson is a member of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band.
Prior to the meeting, students learned about āThe Presidentās Ownā and watched various concert excerpts. The students were then able to ask Staff Sergeant Samson questions about what it is like to be a musician whose job is to play for White House events.
Staff Sergeant Samson even made a deal with the students. If they send him a recording of āHot Cross Bunsā once they learn to play it on their recorders, he will send a recording of him playing āHot Cross Bunsā on his tuba in return.
Staff Sergeant Samson encouraged our young musicians to work hard and persevere through the challenges of learning to play an instrument.
A special "Thank You!" to Staff Sergeant Samson for providing our students this amazing experience! šš

Mrs. Wolf's class celebrated "White Cane Day.ā Students in her class listened to the book called āWhite Cane Day" and had a lively conversation about the achievements of people who are blind and/or visually impaired.
Students enjoyed making white cane day pencils and a chocolate covered pretzel that looked like a white cane. The highlight was wearing low vision simulators when doing the activities and looking at braille books. Each student received their name in Braille, too!
