Parent Update 8.26.21

Greetings Gosling Families!

Believe it or not there is less than one week until the official start to the school year at WHS!  Staff returned this week and have been engaged in a variety of professional development activities, celebrations, safety training, and classroom preparation.  We will be busy next week in our preparations for student arrival on September 1st.

Please review the updates below and stay tuned for additional communications as we begin the school year.  If you need additional assistance in the meantime, please contact the WHS Student Services Office as a great resource to discuss alternative ways to support your student. You are also always welcome to contact any administrator.  We hope you and your family have a fantastic school year.  It is a great time to be gosling!

Josh Kerr, Principal Watertown High School

September 1st Day of School: The first day of school at WHS is Wednesday, September 1st.  Be sure to note that the first day of school is on the WHS Wednesday from 8:00 a.m.-2:15 p.m.  This dismissal time on Wednesday applies throughout the year (See the WHS Daily Time Schedule).

Student Schedules: All students should check their schedules on Skyward prior to next Wednesday. There have been some modifications to student schedules and teacher room assignments. We want students to know where they are headed before they arrive to WHS. Students enrolled in Phy Ed this trimester should be prepared to dress and engage in physical activity beginning with the first day of school.  Plan accordingly by bringing appropriate clothing and shoes.

Student Services: Due to a recent vacancy in the WHS counseling department, please contact the staff below with questions about student schedules.  Students and families may also contact the Student Services Office by phone at (920) 262-7550.

Back to School Fair: Mark your calendars as WHS will hold our Back to School Fair on Monday, August 30 from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. outside of WHS on the sidewalk and Peace Garden Area. The purpose of this event is to provide families with the opportunity to meet faculty and learn more about the wealth of curricular and co-curricular offerings available at WHS. Since this event will be held outside, we will continue to watch the weather carefully and notify WHS families if the event has to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

2021-22 WUSD Safety Protocols: Please be sure to review the WUSD Key Safety Protocols and the WUSD Safety Plan in advance of the school year.

Senior Yearbook Photos: Senior yearbook photos will need to be uploaded directly to the Herff-Jones website: www.hjeshare.com and the school code is 825. The senior photo should be a headshot with no hands in the photo. The deadline to upload your senior picture is Friday, November 5, 2021. Hard copy photos and emailed senior photos will not be accepted.

2021-22 WHS Entrance Procedures: Please note during the 2021-22 school year the main entrance doors and student parking lot doors will open at 7:45 a.m. WHS students driving to school should plan on parking in the WHS Student Parking Lot.  During times of inclement weather, students arriving to school on the bus will be escorted by a WHS staff member to the WHS Commons.
