Global Seal of Biliteracy Students

The Watertown Unified School District is proud to announce that 13 Watertown High School seniors have qualified for the prestigious Global Seal of Biliteracy in the 2024-25 school year. The students being recognized for this achievement are Eric Cortez, Kimberly Jimenez, Maria Mora Perez, Leilani Olguin, Yunis Olguin Dominguez, Angel Ramirez, Viviana Velez, Guadalupe Viedma, Jennifer Lopez, Sara Rodriguez, Amenn Martinez Bustillo, Sandra Sotelo Benedicto, and Hannah Trujillo. The Global Seal of Biliteracy is an international language certificate that recognizes and celebrates a student’s level of proficiency in two or more languages.

The Global Seal of Biliteracy enables programs and businesses across the world to quickly validate a student’s language skills to aide in advanced placement in a post-secondary language program. It can help students earn scholarships and provide opportunities for employment. The Global Seal of Biliteracy also allows employers to easily verify students’ language skills and be confident that they possess valuable soft skills linked to multilingualism.

"In today’s global economy, proficiency in multiple languages has tremendous value,” said WUSD English Language Coordinator Ashley Peirick. “We are proud that these students are now part of this global community of multilingual individuals. We congratulate our students on this significant achievement and look forward to seeing the opportunities that their Global Seal of Biliteracy will bring them in the future.”
