Dear Parents and Community Members,
Thank you for your continued support of our students and each other. Together, we carry forward a strong tradition of excellence while also embracing the innovation and transformation needed to prepare our learners for the future.
I am writing today to share information that the Watertown Unified School District continues to face financial challenges. Though we have worked hard to cut $1.2 million from our budget this year, we are still having difficulties meeting our needs. Because of this, our Board of Education and administration are working closely with School Perceptions (survey and data collection) and PRA (facilities planning) to determine the best path forward for our school district. To that end, a community survey will soon be mailed to every household in our attendance area. Community members should receive this survey by the end of October 2025. This survey is designed to gather thoughts and feedback as we explore the possibility of an operational referendum in April 2026.
Your voice matters. If you live within the boundaries of our school district, please take time to complete the survey when it arrives. If more than one individual in your household wishes to take the survey, there will be instructions on the mailed survey regarding how to request additional paper or electronic copies. Each survey comes with a unique confirmation number that may only be used once. The deadline to complete the survey is November 17, 2025. If you have questions, I encourage you to reach out to me directly.
Thank you again for your work and for all you do to support the success of our students and our schools.
In community & education,
Dr. Jarred Burke
