The Watertown Unified School District Board of Education is forming a Human Growth and Development (HGD) Advisory Committee to review and provide input on the district’s Human Growth and Development curriculum. This committee will serve in an advisory role to the Board, ensuring that the curriculum is medically accurate, age-appropriate, and reflective of community standards.
Committee Membership
In accordance with Board Policy 2414 and Wisconsin State Statute 118.019, the advisory committee must include a broad representation of the community. Membership will include:
Parents/guardians of WUSD students
Teachers and school administrators
Students
Health care professionals
Members of the clergy
Other WUSD residents
No single category of members will make up more than one-fifth of the committee (with the exception of parents, who may exceed this percentage). No more than one-quarter of the committee may be employees of the WUSD, Board members, or their spouses.
Expectations
Committee members will:
Review Human Growth and Development curriculum and instructional materials used in the WUSD
Meet approximately once per month from January 2026 through May 2026
Provide feedback and recommendations to the Board of Education

First committee meeting: January 6, 2026, 5-6:30 p.m., Educational Service Center, 111 Dodge St., Watertown, WI. Committee meetings to follow on the first Tuesday of each month through May, 2026 from 5-6:30 p.m.

All meetings of the HGD Advisory Committee are subject to Wisconsin’s Open Meetings Law. Meetings will be publicly noticed at least 24 hours in advance and open to all who wish to attend.
