Superintendent's Message

Dear Watertown Unified School District Community,

As we embark on a new school year, we are excited to share our commitment to improving communication throughout the district. We have heard from our parents and community members that there is a need for enhanced communication and transparency. The development of our district newsletter (link below) is just one new tool we are using to increase our communication with you. Over the past few months we have engaged with parents, community members and staff on an incredible journey to formulate a new Strategic Plan for our school system. Thank you to the more than 150 district stakeholders who participated in this Strategic Planning process that has been guided by three key pillars: Tradition, Innovation, and Transformation.

Tradition: Our district has always been grounded in a rich history of educational excellence and community spirit. We honor and build upon the time-tested values and practices that have shaped our schools and supported countless students over the years. This legacy of tradition and the great people who have graced our halls provides a strong foundation for our continued success. A foundation that instills pride in the #WatertownWay!

Innovation: In a rapidly changing world, embracing innovation is essential. We are dedicated to integrating the latest educational tools, methods, and technologies to enhance learning experiences and to better prepare our students for the future. From cutting-edge classroom technology to new teaching strategies, our commitment to innovation ensures that we stay at the forefront of educational excellence.

Transformation: True progress comes from the courage to do better. We are focused on creating dynamic learning environments that adapt to the evolving needs of our students and community. With improvements in our craft and an aim toward well articulated academic gains, this change involves not only updating our facilities and curricula, but also fostering a culture of continuous improvement and receptiveness to betterment for our students, their families, and our community.

Together, these pillars support our mission to serve our students by providing educational opportunities that promote academic excellence and a lifelong love of learning. As we move forward with our improved communication, we invite you to join us in celebrating our traditions, embracing new ideas, and the continuous improvement of our schools into vibrant centers of learning and growth.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to a remarkable year of progress and achievement! #wegotthis!
