Author Larry Watson to Visit WHS

Watertown High School, in cooperation with Tribeca Gallery Café and Books and the Watertown Public Library, will host critically acclaimed author Larry Watson. Watson will visit Watertown on Monday, November 10th.  He will meet with students and teachers at Watertown High School from 2:00-3:30 p.m., sign books at Tribeca Gallery Café and Books from 4:00-6:00 p.m., and read and discuss his works with community members at the Watertown Public Library beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Watson, a Visiting Professor of English at Marquette University, has authored nine books including the award-winning novella Montana 1948 and his newly released title Let Him Go.  The Wisconsin Library Association Literary Awards Committee has chosen Let Him Go by Larry Watson, as the winner of the 2014 Wisconsin Library Association Literary Award, given for the highest literary achievement by a Wisconsin author for a book published in 2013.

Questions about Larry Watson’s visit should be directed to Andrew Johnson at Watertown High School.   A collection of his titles is available for purchase at Tribeca Gallery Café and Books.  Community members interested in hearing Larry Watson speak at the library should contact the Watertown Public Library.

 

Student of the Month: September 2014

Watertown High School has recently started a Student of the Month program which recognizes students for outstanding academic accomplishments. At the end of every month, each department selects a student for special recognition. Students can be selected for a variety of reasons including academic achievement, significant improvement, or a substantial contribution to the classroom. The following students have been selected as the September Students of the Month: Nathan Groth- English Department, Even Smothers- Math Department, Konnor Johnson- Social Studies Department, Jonathan Burke- Science Department, Brieanna Haupt- Art Department, Carlee Cantrall- Music Department, Emily Ortega- Foreign Language Department, Ashley Flaugher- Vocational Education Department, Brandon Beerbohm- Physical Education Department, and Caitlyn Schultz- Guidance Department. Congratulations to these students on this significant accomplishment!
