Cassandra Schug - Superintendent of Schools

I am honored and privileged to serve as the Superintendent of Schools for the Watertown Unified School District. Prior to my work in Watertown, I served as the Principal of West Bend East High School in West Bend, Wisconsin, from 2003 to 2011. Prior to my work in West Bend, I was an assistant principal and Academic and Assessment Director at Nathan Hale High School in West Allis, Wisconsin. Before my work as an administrator, I was an English teacher at Nathan Hale High School and at McHenry High School in McHenry, Illinois.

I completed my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in English Education, my Master of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Administrative Leadership, my superintendent licensure at Marquette University, and my doctorate at UW-Madison in Educational Policy and Leadership.

I am actively involved in the community and serving the education profession. I am a member of Rotary, and I serve on the Watertown Library Board and City Branding Commission. I am also a member of the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators. I served as a Board member and the President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, and I have served on the Executive Board for the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators.

Most important to me is my family. I married my husband, Tom, in 1999, and we have three children all attending school in the WUSD - one at WHS, one at RMS and one at Douglas Elementary. It is my hope that all of my children will be graduates of the Watertown Unified School District.

Ivan Thompson - Director of Human Resources

Ivan Thompson serves the District in the role of Director of Human Resources.  The Director of Human Resources provides leadership, coordination, and management for all aspects of the District's personnel functions, including planning, budgeting, employment, evaluation, salary administration, base wage negotiations, and handbook administration to ensure that quality services are provided to the staff of the Watertown Unified School District.

Mr. Thompson has been employed in the Watertown School District since 1989 and has been fortunate to have served in a number of District capacities.  He is a graduate of UW-Whitewater, UW-LaCrosse, and has earned further certifications through Whitewater, Concordia, and Marion Universities.

Ivan is married to Jody and his family includes four children, two step-children, and, one of the highlights of his life, four grandchildren.  Two of the grandchildren are currently students in the Watertown School District.

Ivan has been excited about the various roles he has served in the Watertown Unified School District.  He is very appreciative of the education his six children received in the Watertown District…and the fact that the teaching staff well-prepared them  for the demands of higher education and life after graduation from higher education.

Ivan believes the Watertown community is an excellent community in which to raise a family and the Watertown Unified School District provides everything a parent could desire for their children’s educational future!
